Country Week: Hedland SHS sends six teams to Perth

On Sunday afternoon we proudly farewelled our Country Week Teams at the Hedland Airport. This fortunate group of  young men and women have shown dedication and commitment to be selected  to participate in the biggest  school sporting event held in the southern hemisphere. Country Week is the highlight of many regional and rural senior school students as the experience provides students with the chance to form new friends, create long lasting memories and build stronger relationships with their staff coaches.

Country Week  annually involves over 3500 students, 250 staff and a large number of volunteers, sponsors and  supporters.  Without this extensive network of support provided to these teams by parents, families, staff, sponsors and community members we would not be able to send our teams to Perth for this event.  I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone that has ensured our teams left Hedland with the greatest chance of success and I would also like to acknowledge the work of the staff that remain at school this week, covering the coaches classes; it is this professional team approach that sets Hedland SHS apart and highlights the commitment of staff, students, families and the wider community to our school motto “Together we Achieve”.

As the week moves on and we receive up-dates from our teams we will post the results on our webpage.
