Investigating Pendulum Motion

IMG_1275In the first few weeks of Term 4 students in the Year 10 ATAR pathway investigated the motion of a swinging pendulum. Their aim was to determine the factors that contribute the time it takes a pendulum to complete one full swing. The students conducted their investigation in a very scientific manner and seemed puzzled when things didn’t turn out as predicted. Through their investigation the students discovered that the mass of the pendulum bob and the starting height of the swing do not effect the time it takes to complete one full swing, while the length of the string does have an effect.
