The Learning Extension Academic Program (LEAP) and Academic Extension (AE) program at Hedland SHS aim to challenge students with enriched learning opportunities through acceleration of the standard curriculum, promoting a focus on academic rigour and intellectual challenge. The program seeks to provide opportunities for critical analysis with an emphasis on higher order thought processes, including problem solving and lateral thinking. Developing students’ readiness and preparedness for ATAR studies in Years 11 and 12 is a concurrent feature of the program in all academic years.

Acceleration: through covering the curriculum at a faster rate and allowing time to investigate integrated activities and delve deeper into concepts.

Enrichment/Extension: exposing students to a higher level of content and concepts, offering students opportunities to expand their skills and knowledge.

Testing will commence on Monday 21st October (years 7-9)  and Wednesday 11th December (year 6)

To apply, fill out the LEAP and AE Student Application Form and return the application to the Hedland SHS administration office by 3pm Thursday 26th September.
