In Science students investigate, understand and communicate in a broad range of topics that allows them to better understand the world around them. Science helps students to become critical thinkers by encouraging them to use evidence to evaluate what they see and what they hear.
The Science Department implements the Australian Curriculum for lower school and offers students the opportunity to study the full range of Science subjects available in upper school.
In lower school, students study Science Inquiry Skills; developing skills in collecting, analysing and communicating information from their environment. This allows students to discover scientific concepts in the four fundamental topics; Biological, Physical, Chemical and Earth and Space Sciences. This understanding is also supported through real world applications, science communication and history as part of the Science as a Human Endeavour strand.
The Science Department are also proudly embedding Aboriginal Sciences in all strands of Science and promote local scientific knowledge as often as possible.
The students are exposed to a broad range of topics to study in lower school, whilst preparing them for the upper school Science units they choose to study.
In upper school students are given the opportunity to study the full range of WACE Sciences courses available, which include:
- Human Biology
- Earth & Environmental Science; and
- Integrated Sciences
