Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to offer your child the opportunity to join the STEM Enrichment Program. This year Hedland Senior High School has started a STEM (Science Technologies Engineering Mathematics) program focusing on engagement, embedding, extension and enrichment. The STEM Enrichment Program aims to build student knowledge and understanding of technologies through cross-curricular learning. The program encourages project based learning, using interactive software and modern robotics and electronics. Each program component will be run over 10 weeks (beginning Week 1 of term) and will be open to students in Years 6 to 9. This is a highly competitive program where only a selected number of students will be offered a placement in the program.
Each class is capped at 18 students and all are required to apply by end of week 9 (Sunday, 17th Sept).
The courses on offer for term 4 will be:
|Year 6 & 7 (Class 1 & 2)||Year 8 & 9 (Class 3)|
|Day||Tuesday or Thursday||Thursday|
|Time||3:00pm – 4:30pm||3:00pm – 4:30pm|
|Course Title||Electronics||Web Design|
Other courses under consideration for the future include: Animation, Rocket Science, Food Science, Robotics, Web Design, Coding, Dimensional Design, and Artistic Maths.
The STEM Enrichment program comes to a cost of $50 for 10 weeks. This cost includes and covers all resources, materials and other consumables.
Proof of payment is required before commencement of the program.
As this program still falls within Hedland Senior High School, it is required that all students uphold the school ethos, rules and values.
