Specialist Arts Program

Hedland Senior High School is the only school to offer a Specialist Arts Program outside of the Perth metropolitan area. It is critical that we work towards offering students the same opportunities as the Specialist Arts Programs in Perth.

Students in Years 6-12 are invited to apply for 2018.

Specialist Arts Program workshops will take place after school, rather than during timetabled classes. Students will have the option of participating in the Production (Visual Arts, Photography and Media) workshops on Tuesdays or Performance (Drama, Dance and Music) workshops on Mondays. Students will have the opportunity to attend both afternoons if they have an interest in all Arts disciplines. Workshops run from 2:30-4pm.

The workshops will be planned to engage and extend Specialist Arts students to ensure they are building their knowledge, talents and skills in the Arts. Students will be expected to attend every workshop and either exhibit their art works or performance at a Showcase at the end of each Semester.

Students interested in participating in the Specialist Arts Program for 2018 will be required to complete an application if they will be new to the program. Students who were involved in the Specialist Arts Program in 2017 will automatically be accepted for 2018. Applications are open for students in Years 6-12.

Please be aware that engagement in the Specialist Arts Program is an extension for students and will therefore incur an additional cost of $150 per year to cover the cost of materials and resources.

Applications must be returned to the Hedland Senior High School administration by Friday the 9th of February, 2018. Late applications will not be accepted.
