The Technology and Enterprise Learning Area is a highly practical area in which students are encouraged to express themselves and develop skills in decision making and problem solving through the media of foods, textiles, wood, metal, information technology and digital imaging. It provides students with opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical and enterprising way, using a variety of resources.
Activities in this Learning Area involve ‘enterprise’, which is the ability to identify needs and opportunities through a variety of situations and to take action that will be of benefit to society and the individual.
Design & Technology
Design and Technology offers Year 7 – 10 Woodwork and Metalwork. In Upper School, we offer courses in Material Design and Technology: Wood and Metal, Building and Construction and Design: Technical Graphics.
Business & Computing
The Information Technology course is offered to students from Year 7 to 10. The main focus of this subject is to expose students to various software/media technologies to solve daily problems and prepare students for the workplace and beyond. At a Year 11/12 level, upper school students can further their learning with an Applied Information Technology course.
Business Management is offered for Year 11 and 12. Students gain valuable knowledge about the business environments and the processes involved in running a successful business.
Home Economics offers Years 7 – 10 Food and Textiles. In Upper School, we offer courses in Children, Family and Community, and Food, Science and Technology: Hospitality.
