Successful completion of VET courses may provide students with improved access to TAFE, traineeships, apprenticeships and future employment. Selection for a position in a TAFE course is based on student performance in Year 10 and interview.
Workplace learning is an integral part of all VET programs and supports students in making a successful transition to employment or further training. Local employers are very supportive if our workplace learning programs, often utilising the program to source future employees.
The Workplace Learning course aims to provide all students with the knowledge, workplace skills and attitudes valued within work environments, as a preparation for employment. Specific technical skills and knowledge learnt during formal education help students gain and keep employment. Generic work related skills that are transferable are vital to all forms of employment in today’s world.
Whether a student aims to start work straight after high school or undertake further studies, our 2019 VET Handbook will help them decide which Year 11 and 12 study options best match their interests, skills, needs and learning levels.
