Hedland SHS competed in the Pilbara heats of Yohfest recently, showcasing a depth of talent and innovation in the arts. Held annually at the Matt Dann, Yohfest is a state-wide performing arts competition, with high schools creating visual art, dance and drama pieces on a given theme. The 2014 theme was ‘community’ and this was very effectively communicated through the drama and dance pieces “Rumour has it” “Welcome to Hedland” and “What’s on Hedland” and also through student portrait paintings. Karratha SHS entered the competition as well, providing great entertainment and healthy competition for the Hedland crowd.
