Hedland Senior High School held an ASPIRE incursion which was organised by UWA ASPIRE, Girls in Engineering, School of Indigenous Studies and sponsored by Rio Tinto.
The aim of the incursion is to inspire students about university, give them ideas on what day to day life is like and to answer any questions or concerns. Students also engaged in some interesting STEM activities.
- The Year 7’s gained insight into values and some United Nations problem solving ideas.
- The Year 8’s became geologists for an hour and covered stratigraphy of rocks in the Pilbara.
- The Year 10’s examined their personal interests and how they link to subject choices and university degrees.
- The Indigenous students were given a presentation by the School of Indigenous Studies which was linked to an interesting STEM investigation.
