The role of the education assistant is to assist teachers to deliver planned education programs and encourage a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
EAs work under direct supervision from the classroom teacher and perform routine tasks using established methods and procedures.
The use of EAs in mainstream classes helps to provide outcomes such as delivery of high quality, student-focused learning programs; an inclusive, relevant, resourced and safe learning environment; and through the pastoral care role, at risk students have increased participation and focus within the programs.
