All new Hedland SHS uniform purchases are now to be ordered directly through Uniform Concepts (Nell Gray.) Uniform Concepts provides school uniforms to over 100 schools across Western Australia. A full sizing guide is attached, and items are available to try on in the Administration Office prior to ordering if required. Orders are to be lodged online through the Uniform Concepts website: Hedland Senior High School – Nell Gray

All year 7 students will be required to wear the new school uniform from the commencement of the school year. Years 8-12 may continue to wear their current uniforms and are not obligated to acquire a new uniform for the year 2026; However, families will have the option to purchase new uniforms if they choose to do so.

Lower school will include students in years 7-10 and upper school will include students in years 11 and 12.

Hedland SHS will be going through a 2-year uniform transition for the rest of the school (years 8-12) and all students will be required to be wearing the new school uniform by the commencement of the school year in 2027.

A full sizing kit will be available at the HSHS Administration office to try on should you need to before you order.

Uniform Policy

School Uniform and Dress Code

The school Hedland Senior High School uniform symbolizes inclusion within the school community. It fosters a sense of unity and belonging among students, encouraging pride in appearance and a strong sense of school spirit. The Uniform and Dress Code apply at all times. Students are required to wear their school uniform before, during and after school (while on school site) and whilst attending excursions.

Uniform Management and Referrals

All students, parents/carers and teachers have a role to play in uniform management. Students must be fully aware of the Uniform and Dress Code. Parents/carers must ensure that students adhere to the Uniform and Dress Code prior to leaving home.  All School staff share responsibility to manage the Uniform and Dress Code.

Personal Presentation

  • Uniform items are to be neat and clean and worn to size and design
  • Under-garments should only be navy blue, black or white
  • Jumpers/jackets are to be worn with a school shirt underneath
  • Leggings, coloured tights and denim are not part of the school uniform

Uniform Requirements

Our school is transitioning between uniforms. To support families, this will be introduced over three years before the new uniform is compulsory.

Supports

All students out of uniform will be instructed to change into available loaned uniform item/s:

  • Students out of uniform must present to Front Office
  • The school retains sets of clean uniforms which can be issued to students and must be returned at the end of the day (failure to return borrowed uniform items may result in families incurring the cost of the uniform item/s).
  • A student who refuses to change their non-uniform item when instructed will be referred directly to a Student Support Officer.
  • Students who persistently infringe the uniform policy will be referred to their SSM who will then consider strategies such as parent/carer meeting and agreements.

Uniform Difficulties

  • Families who are experiencing uniform difficulties are encouraged to contact Student Support.
  • The school retains sets of clean uniforms which can be issued to students and can be returned at the end of the day. (Please note – failure to return borrowed uniform items may result in families incurring the cost of the uniform item.)
