Hedland SHS’s Specialist Arts Program (SAP) invites all students to be courageous and explore their artistic side. As the only Specials Arts school outside the Perth metropolitan area, our program is designed to extend talents and skills beyond regular curriculum and classroom projects. 

Students are given the opportunity to explore their world through Drama, Visual Art, Dance, Media, Music and Production. Specialist teachers will extend and evolve students’ skills and thinking and nurture their individual interests through weekly, after school sessions. 

Beyond the classroom, SAP students will be given opportunities to engage in extra-curricular activities including events such as: YoHFest, Artists in Residence, SAP Showcases, Awesome Arts, Hedland Youth Art Awards, FORM, Country week, Arts Away (1 week Arts camp), musicals and many more! (These are sometimes on a rotation and events may vary year to year.) 

SAP runs every Monday and Tuesday 2:30-4pm, with Term One acting as a taster of all disciplines. Please be aware that the Specialist Arts Program is an extension course for students and will therefore incur additional fees (depending on the individual events) to cover the cost of activities.
