Senior School Microcredentials and Additional Supports

At Hedland Senior High School, the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership provides all senior students with additional opportunities to develop employability skills and gain valuable micro-credentials that enhance their readiness for further education, training, and employment. Opportunities include, but are not limited to, First Aid certification, Construction White Card training, barista training, Keys for Life, Bronze Medallion, Community Services programs, school-based certificate courses, targeted Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) support, and social-emotional learning programs. These experiences are designed to build students’ confidence, workplace capabilities, and industry-relevant skills while supporting successful post-school pathways

School STEM Grants

Hedland Senior High School accesses STEM grant opportunities through the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership which provide students with opportunities to engage in hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning through authentic, real-world experiences. These initiatives are designed to inspire curiosity, develop problem-solving skills, and broaden students’ awareness of future pathways in STEM-related industries and careers.

A highlight of the program is the STEM Camp, which gives students access to a diverse range of learning experiences and leading STEM organisations across Western Australia. Through STEM Camp, students engage with facilities and programs such as the WA Space Science Education Centre, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, Murdoch University, the WA Museum, and BHP’s Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC), providing valuable insights into innovation, research, technology, and emerging industries.
