Students travelled across the state learning about the Aboriginal history, from an Aboriginal perspective, including the convict history, impact of colonisation on Aboriginal families, massacres, traditional bush foods and culture.
We also got to experience Australia’s diversity seeing the beauty of Cataract Gorge, Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay, glow worms and caving including a 33,000+ year old stalagmite, seeing snow on the mountains and patting interesting animals including a Tasmanian devil and wombat!
Students worked hard to be selected for this trip of a lifetime – dedication to extra work after school, classwork and extra research. This opportunity certainly broadened the horizons of all, learning so much about our history, getting to see the contrast to Hedland and differences our wonderful country has!
A massive thanks to the students, families and Polly Farmer Foundation Follow the Dream for making this trip so successful.
