At Hedland Senior High School, ‘Our Way’ is our whole school instructional model. It reflects our commitment to consistent, high impact teaching practices that support every student to succeed. This shared approach ensures great teaching happens in every classroom, every day, while providing students with predictable routines, clear learning goals, and an understanding of what success looks like. Through structured lessons, evidence-based strategies, and regular feedback, ‘Our Way’ helps students feel confident, engaged, and empowered in their learning.

Start strong
We enter the classroom calmly and get ready to learn by having everything we need for class.
Our lessons have a clear aim, listen for it! And think, “what will I learn today”?
Your teacher will share what “good work” means. Aim to meet those expectations.
We’ll begin with a short activity to get our brains ready.
Join in on discussions and activities. Ask questions and share ideas.
Listen, practice, and try new things. Use feedback to improve.
Review what we learned, pack up calmly and be ready for next time.

We prioritise ongoing professional learning and teacher development to ensure ‘Our Way’ is embedded consistently across every classroom.

Our staff engage in regular coaching cycles, collaborative planning sessions, and targeted professional learning aligned to evidence based instructional practices.
